Director of Communications

Position Objectives

The Director of Communications will have a real opportunity to make an impact by engaging and cultivating ACS alumni, parents, students and others in the life of the College. This person will be responsible for developing and implementing the communications strategy of ACS and will be orchestrating all communication, cultivation, and stewardship initiatives, promoting Alumni Reunions, and helping work on long-term strategies for attracting academically talented students and teachers. This person will manage the College’s Social Media, and create content for the ACS website and blog. We are looking for a brilliant communicator who can approach challenges creatively and knows how to use their excellent interpersonal skills to advance the mission and work of the American College of Sofia. Тhe candidate must be fluent in Bulgarian and in English, and confident in face to face, online, and written communications.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and Bulgarian
  • Ability to identify problems and seek creative solutions

  • Loves teamwork but can also work efficiently on his/her own
  • Lifelong learner focused on personal and professional development
  • Excellent writing skills in Bulgarian and in English

Preferred Competencies

  • Degree in Communications, Marketing or other relevant field
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Experience with educational or other non-profit organizations
  • Experience with tools for visual and digital design and content creation is an advantage
