Success and a Medal from the National IT Olympiad

ACS 9th grader Ognyan Trayanov’s and 11th grader Boris Radulov’s project in the Applied programs category for the mobile app “Augmented Reality Training” obtained the impressive 85 points at the National Olympiad in Information Technology in Vratsa and ranked fourth among the 20 best projects in the country.

Our students’ app opens new possibilities to learning through Augmented Reality which could potentially improve the education process, save money, and reduce the effects of old-school textbooks on the environment. To implement this project the students used Unity, Visual Studio, Vuforia, and Android Studio. The Augmented Reality part works in Unity and visualizes 3D models via Vuforia.

About 170 participants in the Olympiad sat for an IT test and Boris and Ognyan scored 6 and 5.75 (out of 6) respectively. Thus Boris is third, which earns him a well-deserved bronze medal and a special diploma from the Ministry of Education, which can be used for admission to higher education institutions in Bulgaria.
