ACS Girls Football Season

In the 2013-2014 school year the ACS girl’s football team had the opportunity to participate in three friendly games with two teams – AAS and German Language School. After all our efforts to find at least one more team to organize ACS OPEN for this season, we found out that girls football is not popular in the schools around Sofia.

The first game was with the Anglo-American School. This was a very competitive game and logically it ended with the score 1:1.
The second match, with the German School, went according to a completely different scenario. At the very beginning of the game both teams started with lots of attacks and with many gaps at both goals. But at the final we won with a score 4:0.
The scorers for our team were Antoniya Georgieva, 12 grade, Elena Kostova, 12 grade, with 2 goals and Hristina Yordanova, 10 grade.

In the spring ACS team played once more with the German Language school. Our captain Antonia Georgieva (12 grade) and one of our best players Blagovesta Dimitrova (12 grade) were not able to participate.  Three seniors came to help the team – Velina Veleva, Violeta Ivanovska and Pamela Valkova. This game was a bit harder than the previous one because our opponents came to take revenge for the loss in the autumn and were better prepared. But their power was enough only for the first half when they managed to score only 1 goal after receiving 2. In the second half ACS girls were the dominant ones on the field and scored 2 more goals. The game ended with the score of 4:1. Scorers for the ACS were Elena Kostova, 12 grade - 2 goals, Kalina Belcheva, 12 grade – 1 goal, and Velina Veleva, 12 grade – 1 goal.

I would like to thank all students who devoted their time and effort to the team through the whole school year and contributed for the very successful season – Seniors: Antonia Georgieva (c), Anna Popova (c), Elena Kostova, Blagovesta Dimitrova, Kalina Belcheva, Velina Veleva, Violeta Ivanovska, Pamela Valkova. 10th graders: Hristina Yordanova, Nikol Levakova, Elizabeth Djambazova, Vesela Aleksandrova and Izabela Nikolova from 9 grade.
