Two ACS Students with Diplomacy Awards from the 8th Montreal Model United Nations Conference
The eight ACS delegates to the 8th Montreal Model United Nations Conference performed worthily while juniors Lilia Chatalbasheva and Angel Karchev received Diplomacy Awards. ACS students contributed to the WHO (Health), UNHCR (Refugees), and UNHRC (Human Rights) committees. The online conference was joined by almost 500 high-school and university students from 40 countries on 5 continents.
Besides the committee work, the ACS delegation had the opportunity to enjoy addresses from Mr. Adam Goldenberg, a Fellow and Director of Action Canada and co-founder of Teach For Canada, as well as from Professor Kyle Matthews, Executive Director of the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies (MIGS) at Concordia University.
“I want to recognize all our delegates for their efforts and persistence in the preparation for and participation in the event, staying awake late at night due to the time difference, and vigorously yet politely discussing current global challenges, despite the connectivity issues. Great job, guys!” - Dr. Zornitsa Semkova, ACS Model United Nations Club Sponsor commended the participants.
