ACS Refugee Center Club Gifts Time to Displaced Children

“It is the obligation of every person born in a safer room to open the door when someone in danger knocks,” said the Iranian-American writer Dina Nayeri.

To provide such safety, essential supplies are vital for children in refugee camps.

However, one of the most impactful gifts is the gift of Time. Time spent listening to human stories, sharing laughter, playing games… and showing kindness. Kindness fosters hope.

Last week’s visit of the students from the ACS Refugee Center Club to the refugee camp in Harmanli is proof that generosity is counted not in physical items but care. Our students know that giving back is an essential value at ACS, so they donate time to those who need support.

And according to UNICEF, the number of children in need of support is alarming. Worldwide, at the end of 2023, there were over 47 million children displaced due to conflict, with almost 4,000 unaccompanied children registered in Bulgaria alone.

Let’s come together—whether through donating time, toys, or other essentials—to support displaced children. Every gesture counts in creating a brighter future.
