Preps’ Service Learning Project

The 11th annual 8th Grade Service Learning Project has just been successfully completed. 200 students from 39th Elementary School in Mladost received original books with fairy tales written and illustrated by our 8th graders under the supervision of their ESL teachers.

Our students worked on the project in pairs. They received help from their younger friends from the 39th School whom the prep students visited several times in February and March. On March 25, all 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders from 39th School visited the ACS campus to celebrate the end of this year’s project. The ACS 8th graders entertained their younger guests by performing some of the fairy tales on the stage of the Whitaker Auditorium. After that, the guests were invited to the ESL classrooms in Sanders Hall, where they received the books that had been made especially for them, as well as some treats and souvenirs.

For another year in a row, Orange Center supported our Service Learning Project. Special thanks to Silvia Slabova and her colleagues in Orange Center - Graf Ignatiev.
