Interact and the Career Orientation Club Help a Noble Cause
The American College of Sofia once again sees students coming together to help a great cause. Interact Club, part of the worldwide Rotary organization, and the Career Orientation Club joined forces to do some good while simultaneously giving members the opportunity to experience volunteering and decide whether they would like to continue doing it in the future. Last month, members of the two clubs spent a Saturday morning washing and cutting vegetables, preparing bread rations, organizing bags of food, and distributing the packets to the elderly and people in need, together with other volunteers in the Sveti Prorok Ilija (St. Prophet Elijah) church in Sofia. The experience left a lasting impression on the students, and they definitely aim to organize more days of volunteering.
“By simply volunteering on a Saturday morning, instead of sleeping in, we managed to help the people at St. Prorok Ilija church to prepare food and distribute it to more than 300 people in need. Remember, acts of kindness, no matter how small, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world. Volunteer and be someone’s hero for a day!” Interact Club reminds us. And shares a Helen Keller quote, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
