Interact Club's Crowning Campaign

The Interact club at the American College of Sofia has once again involved the community in a great cause. The club, part of the widely renowned Rotary organization, initiated a charitable process of collecting second-hand winter jackets, kids toys and books, etc., that would be of good use to children in need. The club is working with an orphanage in Pavlikeni for mentally challenged children and young adults from ages 9 to 22.

The students of ACS were asked by the Interact club to donate any toys, books, and winter jackets that they no longer use, but may be of good use for a child in need. The outcome of the process, done in just a couple of weeks, was astonishing. Piles of donations have been collected not only by students, but also by teachers, other members of the ACS community, and even whole corporations who were touched by the cause the club is fighting for. In fact, the donations were so many that it decided to help other orphanages with children in need as well.

The club itself contributed a lot by buying brand new winter shoes for children using money collected from last year’s initiatives such as selling Christmas cards at parent-teacher conferences and lemonade at the Arts fest. Money will be spent as well on Christmas gifts that the children will receive on the special holiday. Also, the Interact club will use the rest of the donated money to purchase food for the orphanage.

Finally, here is the place to thank all of the people that took part in the charitable process: all the students, parents and teachers that donated and all the members of the club that organized the campaign. Special thanks to Rapido Express and Logistics, publishing house Adelfi, and Mat Star shoes for making all of this possible.

One of the goals of this project was to show the ACS community that little effort on our side can make incredible changes in the lives of others. By simply donating possessions that we no longer use and small amounts of money we managed to make numerous children happy. So watch for charity campaigns like that in the future and remember what we achieved in November 2016 with joint effort.
