Human Library On Campus

The human books are a famous Ray Bradbury concept from Fahrenheit 451. They're the antidote to totalitarian unithink.

How romantic to meet a real human book! How vital to have real human books when totalitarian urges are on the rise the world over!

How wonderful of the S.A.F.E. club and Colin Shafer to bring The Human Library to ACS!

The S.A.F.E. (Students Advocating for Equality) team, led by Hale-Seda Radoykova 10/5, is hosting their Building Bridges Week these days. The visit by The Human Library will be its culmination.

So when they say, The Human Library is a place where real people are on loan to readers, what do they mean?

Mr. Shafer says the event will feature "a number of people from within and outside ACS who have important stories to tell. Like a book, you will be able to sit down with them and read (hear) their story."

Let us find out what that means in terms of our non-sci fi, real world with its very scientific totalitarian realities.

To read The Human Library, come to the Art Gallery today, Thursday, March 30, after school.
