Fund Razor Again
The most popular charity drive at ACS is back. Again, we count on facial hair to make a stand, to raise real money, to bring smiles to our students' faces. It is a lot to ask, but we know that hair can handle it.
Borrowing from the popular Movember movement, aka No-Shave November, our own Fund Razor requires faculty and staff members to stop shaving (their faces). Prior to the ACS Christmas Concert the accumulated beards are auctioned off. The collected money goes towards buying useful items for the children of Syrian refugees in this country.
Original organizer Rosen Vutov graduated last year, but he reached back and helped connect a new generation of caring students with this worthy project. Kiril Krantchev 11/2 and Alexandar Beltchev 11/6 are running the drive this time around, with the invaluable help of Sara and Mazen Meziad who again will liaison with the Syrian community.
If anything has been off with this drive until now it is that women are at a disadvantage. This year, the organizers aim to rectify this. Amber Hood and Matthew Clapp have some cool ideas about female hairstyles that can come into play at the latter stages of the campaign.
