Freshmen, Recognized

The ACS rising stars were recognized in a filled-to-the-brim Concert Hall ceremony for 8th Grader accomplishments.

ESL Chair Rumyana Ivanova quoted Aristotle's maxim, We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. "So get in the habit," Ivanova advised.

Then Samantha O'Hara read a poem by the faculty enlisting all the wonderful things that befell the freshmen this first year in the college: pizza, parades, pajamas all got their due in rhyme.

Then each section's most brilliant student in every crucial category - from music through IT to science and sports - was called up and recognized.

3 or 4 four names kept coming up. As history teaches us, Tsveta Kamenova '16 won as good as every category in her freshman year and went on to win almost all in her senior year and become valedictorian. So, we'll be watching closely the careers of the rising stars of the Class of 2020.

In the meantime, have an excellent vacation!
