Ari Roland Jazz Quartet with Memorable Performance at ACS
As a prelude to the holidays, Whitaker Auditorium got rocking (jazzing?) in the middle of a school day thanks to some classic tunes performed by the Ari Roland Jazz Quartet.
Mr. Roland and his band have been playing in New York together for 34 years. And this year, having added a 34-year-old drummer, have come to Bulgaria for the eighth time. But enough with the numbers. Let’s move on to the names: The US Embassy’s Chargé d'affaires Justin P. Friedman and the Cultural Attache Matt Hagengruber brought the musicians to the Whitaker stage. After warming up with long-time favorites, the quartet broke into jazz improvisations on Хубава си, моя горо and later led the student audience in a singalong to Gershwin’s Summertime.
In partnership with the US Embassy in Sofia, Ari Roland Jazz Quartet is spreading the holiday cheer by grooving up the staff of the NATO bases in Bulgaria with some good old jazz standards, original compositions and improvisations. As it has become tradition, they held their first show in Bulgaria for the ACS Community. We are using this opportunity to wish all domestic and international service people in Bulgaria Happy Holidays!
