ACS Students Succeed at Spring Youth Bridge Tournament
The ACS Sports Bridge Club has only been meeting since the beginning of the school year, but its members are already celebrating their first successes from their participation in the Spring Youth Bridge Tournament which took place in Koshov village, near Ruse, from Thursday, March 2, to Sunday, March 5.
In the Beginners category of the competition ACS 9th graders Yoan Denev and Emma Petkova won third place.
Matilda Lorer ’27 and David Lorer ’26 won first place in the Advanced category of the Matchpoints competition.
Additionally the following ACS 8th graders were recognized for their overall performance:
Second place - Girls (up to 8th grade) - Anna Rashkova
Second place - Boys (up to 8th grade) - Lior Mayer
Third place - Girls (up to 8th grade) - Nadezhda Tihova
Third place - Boys (up to 8th grade) - Mateya Krastev
In the team competition that took place over the last two days of the tournament, the ACS team (Yoan Denev, Emma Petkova, Anna Rashkova, and Lior Mayer) ranked 5th overall, playing against both Beginner and Advanced teams.
Congratulations to all participants in the tournament for their team spirit and dedication! And congratulations to ACS Sports Bridge club Presidents David and Matilda Lorer, who, aside from being stellar players, have been amazing Bridge coaches to the rest of the ACS students!
