A Glimpse into the Medical Profession
Nine ACSers got a sense of what it is like to be a physician at a modern fast-paced hospital. A couple of weeks ago the students in the Bioethics Elective visited Women’s Health Hospital “Nadezhda” where they prepared medications in the hospital’s pharmacy, administered intramuscular shots (to oranges) and used real surgical needles to stitch up wounds (on neoprene). Dr. Anelia Racheva, MD., the hospital’s administrative director, was kind enough to deliver a lesson on the history of medicine for the students, while they donated sweets for the new mothers and hospital staff as a token of appreciation for the opportunity to experience hands-on what it is like to be a health provider.
