This Theater Season
The new musical is Fame. The new English drama is The Rehearsal. The new students came a calling.
At the initial meetings of the drama and musical clubs, the freshmen were as conspicuous as the veterans of last year's shows. As soon as you set foot in the college, head straight into the limelight – it is a surefire way to make the most of your ACS experience.
For the rest of us the fun is guaranteed. Best is to go and experience the shows for yourselves, but for the curious here is some background on Boris Pankin's crowd-pleasing selections:
Don Zolidis' The Rehearsal gives us a teacher-director who tries to put on a student production of Guys and Dolls. Any similarities to last year's ACS production remain to be disproven.
Fame, obviously, is a Broadway staple, but since that stage is some 5000 miles away you may want to check out Alan Parker's 1980 film that started it all.
Meanwhile, somewhere else on campus, the Bulgarian Drama has just found its new director, Marian Bachev, and is looking for eager freshmen to step up.
