Spring School 2023

The ACS Spring School is the perfect place for your 6 – 12-year-old child to spend the spring vacation. Children all over Bulgaria come to The American College of Sofia to study English, make friends, feel the ACS culture, and have a week of fun. All subjects from our program are taught in English. We offer total immersion into an English-language environment.   

Children are divided into groups according to their level of English knowledge and age. Absolute Beginners are also welcome to the Spring School. Our teachers in English have the highest teaching qualifications and thorough experience with children of all ages. 

Our daily program from 9:30 am until 4:30 pm combines learning English with exploring the ACS park and facilities in the Nature Science classes and Sports classes. 

The American College of Sofia provides all learning materials. Lunch and afternoon snacks are served at the College cafeteria. A medical team is also available on site.

English 
This year will be theming our activities around ‘Spring, the Spring Equinox, and Easter’. 

Attendants will greatly enhance their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through a variety of creative and scientific activities, exploring the world as nature comes to life again after a long winter. We will explore the different Spring traditions around the world, investigate the scientific side of Spring, try our hand at traditional Easter and Spring crafts, and look at poems, books, and songs that explore the concept of Spring. 

Books, film, educational platforms, and a variety of science and craft activities will help the children and young people attending to develop their language in a way that supports all learning styles: Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, and Kinaesthetic.

On the last day of the Spring School, all Children and Young People will get together to take part in an Easter Egg hunt and will share their spring songs, poems and Spring Hats. 

The Natural Science classes  will take our younger learners on a journey with the ‘Fun Science’ book. They will be working on “engineering” projects and will learn how to use ‘the six simple machines’ - wedge, screw, lever, pulley, inclined plane and the wheel and axle. 

Art classes will focus on nature under the title “Nature is our biggest inspiration and helps us discover and understand life”. Every day the children will work on a different project. They will paint pots and canvas, will create bird feeders, and woolen mandalas.

Sports classes will offer a variety of sports both indoor and outdoor (weather allowing). 

Timeline
The Spring school is taking place between  10th – 13th April 2023, every day from 9:30 am till 4:30 pm. Lunch is served at 12:30 pm, afternoon snack – at 4:00 pm.

Price
Early Bird Registration – BGN 625 (valid until March 18, 2023)
Regular Price – BGN 690 (valid from March 19 until April 13, 2023)

*The early price remains valid for the current ACS year-long courses participants for the entire registration period.
**10% discount for a second child from the same family.
***Each participant can take advantage of no more than one discount.

How to Register
1. Send an email to courses@acs.bg to book an online placement test.
2. Let your child sit for the placement test.
3. Book a place by signing a contract and paying the program fee.
*Please note that the registration is completed only after the payment is received.

WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO BOOK YOUR CHILD’S PLACE EARLY.
PLACES FILL UP QUICKLY. 

PLACEMENT TESTS
From Tuesday to Saturday, we offer placement tests in the morning. A test takes about 15 minutes. Afterwards, the teacher gives feedback to the parent. Tests take place with reservation only.

The information you need to provide when booking a test is:
1) First name, family name, and age of the child
2) First and family name, email address, and phone number of a parent / guardian

Group Formation
The kids are divided into groups according to their level of English knowledge and their age. Being a friend with another child is not a criterion taken into consideration when forming groups. Kids who know each other can be in the same group only if their English language level is the same. All children are tested prior to starting school. 

We strongly encourage you to contact us early. Places fill up quickly.
