Young Alum Reaches Milestone
Vladislav Vasilev ’08 is nominated for the Young Engineer of the Year award by UK’s National Microelectronics Institute. An association of electronic engineering and manufacturing organizations, NMI is one of the UK and Ireland’s most effective, influential and respected industry associations.
Vladislav’s passion for physics drove him to excel since an early age. In seventh grade he won a national physics Olympiad. Although he received a department award in social sciences at ACS, he considers that a hobby. His love of physics led him to the University of Edinburgh’s engineering and electronics program.
Vladislav graduated a valedictorian and received plenty of job offers. He chose Dialog Semiconductor with their nimble mission: “Our story is simple, we save power and extend battery life in portable consumer devices and Internet of Things applications” – which touches every facet of our lives from building and home automation to wearable devices.
Still in the beginning of his journey, Vladislav has just reached a milestone. This year’s NMI awards received a record number of entries from a huge array of organizations large and small. More than 20 judges deliberated over the entries to select the shortlist of finalists.
The winner will be announced at a gala dinner and awards ceremony in London on November 19, and we wish Vladislav the very best of luck.
