Voluntary anti-COVID-19 Vaccinations at the American College of Sofia
Be cool, stay at school!
Today, during the traditional Parent-Teacher Day, the American College of Sofia held a campaign for voluntary vaccination against COVID-19. Within 5 hours more than 100 members of our community were administered the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
“The more students we can vaccinate now, the more likely we can protect our school population from a serious outbreak of the virus, and the more likely we can remain open on campus throughout the school year. I encourage all of you to join in this community effort,” ACS President Richard T. Ewing, Jr., Ed.D. commented.
As of September 2021, the percentage of faculty and staff who contracted the virus over the past 6 months and/or were fully vaccinated against COVID-19 was 70.2%. Of the students 16% have received two doses of an anti-COVID-19 vaccine while 18.5% have recovered from the disease over the past 6 months.
The American College of Sofia is encouraging all students, teachers and parents who have not yet been vaccinated, to take advantage of the opportunity for a first dose of Pfizer-BioNTech against COVID-19 during the second part of the campaign in late October. Those who wish to do so can turn to the School Doctor Antoaneta Georgieva for a consultation and registration.
