The First Exhibition of Our Alumna Polina Kocheva, Class of 2007…
…was unveiled on May 15 at Café Mood (90, Tzar Boris III Str.) and will be there for two more months.
The exhibition, Inside, includes paintings and graphics. Polina explained to us that in the cycle, Closer, she depicted different emotions and states of the human soul. These are actually portraits of friends of hers, which impress the viewer not only with the large format of the paintings but also with the vast range of emotions that they represent. Poli told us that these pictures were spontaneous – each was painted at night and took several hours to complete.
A beautiful sunset and tulips inspired her to create The Three Tulips, a pastel piece that was used in the poster advertising her exhibition.
Other impressive examples of her work are the experimental project, Мaiden, made in the style of Vladimir Dimitrov–Maystora but only with primary colors (red, blue and yellow), as well as the graphic Garden of Qualities, an illustration of a Dutch tale representing a variety of human moods and qualities throughout the seasons.
Polina currently majors in Illustration at Utrecht School of Arts (HKU), and as of August 2010 she will study Art & Technology in the University Saxion, Enschede, the Netherlands. We wish Poli great success in the future!
