TED on Campus
Two student performers you should seek out: Martin Kirilov and Nikolay Mitev. Give those guys a stage and watch it light up.
The duo delivered a TED talk on music and its impact on our lives. Without any props, costumes, or other stage crutches, they delivered a pure piece of performance art, riveting regardless of what was being said.
Spearheaded by the College's TED club's Mazen Meziad (11/1), the inaugural TED session had spotty attendance, but at the end everyone present cheered.
TED talks have always benefitted from good performers, the persona of the lecturer often selling the worth of their thesis as good as the actual words.
The energy and enthusiasm of the two eight-graders was infectious. Martin and Nikolay are stars. Funny and engaging, with natural delivery and flowing speech. You don't want it to end. When one punched the other to elicit a sound that illustrates our shared humanity – that moment alone would have been worth the price of admission, had there been one.
I.e. the event is free. So sign up for the next one, people!
