Outstanding Performance for ACS students at MITMUNC XIII
Delegate Petar Petrov, Section 11-3, reporting: The ACS Model United Nations (MUN) team that participated in the thirteenth edition of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology MUN conference has had some resounding success. After three nights of heated debates, coalition building and active diplomacy, three out of the eleven delegates earned awards recognizing their achievements. Jasen Nikolov earned an Honorable Mention in the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA). Lilia Chatalbasheva and Petar Petrov both got Outstanding Delegate awards in their committees - the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the Security Council (SC) respectively.
With delegates participating in the UNOOSA, the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), ICC, SC, Historical and Joint Crisis committees, this has been a major step for the club. Three of the delegates attended a MUN conference for the first time and two others had not faced the International Criminal Court format before.
The next conference the MUN club will be attending is to be hosted in the American College of Greece less than a month from now. The team is hopeful that they will be able to replicate, if not improve, the success they’ve had at MITMUNC XIII.
