Nadezhda Ivanova Wins Harvard Prize Book

Harvard Club Bulgaria awarded ACS 11th grader Nadezhda Ivanova the Harvard Prize Book Award.

Every year, the prize winners are determined among 2000 schools the world over, and are awarded nationally by the local clubs of Harvard graduates.

Among the reasons for Nadezhda's recognition is winning a prestigious stipend for a leadership camp in the US and volunteering at the Museyko children's science center. Nadezhda is currently finishing an exchange year at the prestigious Pennington School.

Petar Alexiev, who succeeds ACS alumna Maria Popkovacheva as HCB president, said, "Besides impressive academic achievements, participation in competitions, debates and other school projects, attention is paid to the candidates' leadership potential and their participation in various extracurricular activities in the fields of science, sports, art, volunteering, etc." According to the jury, this year the candidates are "strong, bright, remarkable young people whom we're bound to be hearing more about in the years to come, and not just in Bulgaria. They have the potential to change the world toward a better place to live."

In 2016, the Harvard Prize Book Award was given to ACSers Kristiya Navushtanova and Boyana Atanasova.
