Lux Prize
The ACS Senior Ralitza Naydenova won second place overall in the Lux Prize creative writing competition. Ralitza participated with two vignettes that complemented each other and created a peculiar image of Africa.
The two parts, called respectively “The Boa” and “The queue,” represent the viewpoints of a Bulgarian man and a Bulgarian woman on Mozambican culture and society. In the first vignette the man is in a situation where the locals are scared of killing a boa on a building site and ask him to help them. The second one focuses on his wife who observes a queue in front of a bank. Ralitza based the vignettes on stories her grandparents used to tell her about their life in Maputo. We congratulate Ralitza on her inspiring achievement!
