Joanna Dimitrova in the Top 3 at the English Speaking Union Contest
On April 9, 2016, Nicole Dobreva 12/5 and Joanna Dimitrova 11/2 represented ACS at the National Round of the 2016 Public Speaking Competition organized by the English Speaking Union of Bulgaria.
The ESUBg is a branch organization to The English-Speaking Union of the Commonwealth. It organizes many events aiming to promote global friendship and understanding through the international use of the English language. One of their major events is the annual Public Speaking Competition.
Naturally, this year's edition required fluent English, eloquence, imagination, and artistic skills. The theme for the National Finals and International Final was 'Integrity has no need of rules.'
Both ACS students performed excellently. We would like to especially congratulate Joanna Dimitrova who won third place with her speech 'The Crime of Integrity.'
Joanna's thesis: "Integrity has no need of rules, because if people know what is right and what is wrong by default, they won't need any laws or rules telling them how to act in a society. So rather than focusing on improving our laws, we should teach our younger generation the importance of integrity, because each and every person is born with the potential of obtaining this quality, it is only a matter of development. Then and only then will our legal system be truly successful and efficient."
