Happy New 2020 from Interact Club ACS!

At the turn of 2020 we are sharing a messages from Interact Club and seniors Isabella Milanova, president and Iveta Petrovska, vice-president:

“In 2020, we urge you to be kind and do good. Smile to strangers. Help an elderly person carry their bags. Give up your seat on the bus. Donate. Volunteer. At first glance, it may seem like a lot of effort, but it really isn’t. One moment, hour or day spent doing something beneficial for someone else is time spent well. We guarantee you won’t regret it.

In 2019 our club increased significantly the number of community service projects it organized and participated in. In November, the members of the club, 9-12 grade, organized an all-school food drive. With the help of students, parents, teachers, and staff members, in just 4 days the club collected more than 200 kg of canned and packaged goods for the “People for People” foundation, which distributes donations to 10 institutions of care for underprivileged children.

At the beginning of December, Interact members used money raised through a fundraiser to buy food, hygiene products, and Christmas treats for 3 homes for children deprived of parental care in Pavlikeni, Bulgaria, which were transported to the orphanages for free thanks to the generous offer of Speedy.

Near the end of 2019, we visited the home for elderly people “Zona B-5” in Sofia. We brought them food and handmade Christmas cards, sang songs, danced Bulgarian folk dances, and talked to them. In only two and a half hours we made these people happy and witnessed the connection between two generations.

These are just a few examples. We engaged in lots of community service, which not only helped others, but helped us meet new people, strengthen friendships within the club, and learn a lot. You should try it too!
