"Dear Poet" writing contest

As an English Fluency project last month Ms. Sarah Grimesey (English Language and Literature) asked students to participate in poets.org's "Dear Poet" writing contest.  In this contest, students had to choose one of 8 poems to study and then write a letter about. In the letter, students were encouraged to explain to the poet what the poem meant to the individual reader.

The ninth grader Nikola Gramatikov's letter about Marilyn Hacker's poem, "Rune of the Finland Woman," was chosen for publication on the "Dear Poet" website! It will be posted on the website until April (American National Poetry Month) 2016.
