Where Class of 2026 Is Heading Next: Academic Paths After ACS

June 9, 2026 --- As the Class of 2026 continues to celebrate university acceptances from leading institutions around the world, another picture is beginning to emerge: the remarkable range of academic paths ACS students are preparing to pursue next.

This year’s graduating class reflects both global trends and deeply personal ambitions. Engineering stands out as the most popular field, with students heading into areas ranging from aerospace and mechanical engineering to chemical engineering, AI, and emerging technologies. Medicine and life sciences also drew strong interest, with ACS graduates pursuing medicine, neuroscience, biomedicine, pharmacy, chemistry, and biomedical sciences.

Business, economics, finance, and management remain among the leading choices for the Class of 2026, while computer science continues to attract students interested in technology, data analysis, and applied mathematics.

At the same time, many seniors are choosing fields centered on creativity, communication, and public impact. Members of the class will study journalism, media, communications, music, film, dance, fashion, architecture, psychology, law, international relations, and European studies.

The diversity of interests also reflects one of ACS’s defining strengths: students are not confined to a single path. Many are combining disciplines such as economics and computer science, law and business, psychology and social sciences, or engineering and biomedical research. Others are embracing the flexibility of liberal arts and undeclared programs as they continue to explore their interests.

From laboratories and courtrooms to concert halls, design studios, startups, hospitals, and policy institutions, the Class of 2026 is preparing to bring its curiosity, talent, and ambition into every corner of the world.
