Courses for Children
The English language is a gateway to the wider world so we focus on building not only knowledge but also confidence, intuition and flexibility in the way our students use the language to express themselves. With a team of teachers from a range of backgrounds and dialects, our courses are delivered entirely in English to reflect the multiculturalism of the language.
You can expect high quality education delivered through lessons that focus on practical skills and a range of activities, contexts and materials. We know that feeling positive, safe and engaged is the key to successful learning and that you can trust our skilled and experienced teachers to deliver education of the highest quality.
List of our courses for children:
Groups: A group is formed of a minimum of 4 children but will not exceed 12 children. Wherever possible, we try to keep group sizes smaller with younger children.
Methodology: All instruction takes place in English and we focus primarily on the development of practical language skills. We use course books from well-known publishers and supplement them with fun and interactive materials created by our own highly-qualified teachers. Courses that require tailor-made content are designed exclusively by our teachers.
Measuring Progress: Feedback is provided directly to students by teachers continuously throughout the course. At the end of every module, a report is sent to parents/guardians with a summary of the student’s progress across the four language skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) as well as individual comments from the teacher.
Where? All courses are held in the Sanders Building. Its location can be found on the map with all buildings on the ACS campus.
How to register?
Fill out the registration form and, if you are coming to us for the first time, book a slot for a level check** by using the button below.
We make sure that we have the minimum of 4 children to form a group and send you a contract and its attachments. If there is no group formed for the level your child is allocated to we will contact you shortly.
Sign the documents you receive.
Pay the tuition fee AFTER you have sent the documents to us.
* Please note that your child’s place is reserved only after the payment is received.
** A level check is simply a short, informal conversation or activity with one of our English teachers. This will help us get to know your child as an individual and place them in the most suitable group for their learning needs. The level check will take place at the American College of Sofia in Sanders Hall and will take approximately 20 minutes.
*** If your child was part of our courses during the 2025-2026 academic year, a level check in English is not required, UNLESS we have informed you of such a necessity.
See What Parents Say
"For about four school years now, our children have been attending the English language courses offered by ACS, and we are extremely pleased with our choice.
The environment is exceptionally positive and supportive. It helps our children be themselves, overcome their anxieties about verbal communication, and at the same time develop and build upon their academic skills.
Particularly valuable to us as parents is the regular feedback we receive. The monthly updates on our children’s development give us a good idea of their progress, and the feedback at the end of each module is extremely helpful and specific—it shows how they’re doing, in which areas they’re making progress, and what they need to work on and improve. This allows us not only to monitor their development but also to support them in a more targeted way.
The teachers and administrative staff are incredibly dedicated, warm, and always approachable. Communicating with them is easy, quick, and pleasant, and their personal attention to each child is evident and highly appreciated."

"I would like to express my sincere thanks for the enriching education and wonderful care provided to my son. He always came home from class in such a positive mood, and I am especially grateful to his teacher for truly sparking his interest. We loved the atmosphere at the American College and highly recommend these classes.
My older son also attended classes here last year and mentioned that, of all the places he’d been to, the American College was his absolute favorite—which is what inspired him to apply after seventh grade!"
Bilyana Ikonomova (parent), SY 25/26
"Both of my children attended summer school and language courses at the American College from an early age. Their achievements in English are excellent.
My impression is that the teaching is done with ease, in a pleasant atmosphere, and that’s why the results are fantastic. The children aren’t overburdened and always went willingly."
Irena Ivanova (parent), SY 25/26
