Math as an Adventure: ACS Math Open 2026
April 16, 2026 --- In March, the American College of Sofia hosted an extraordinary display of intellectual prowess. Over 100 students participated in the ACS Math Open 2026, an exclusive internal competition designed to challenge the mind through intrigue and logic.
The tournament featured two age divisions—grades 8-10 and grades 11-12—with students collaborating in teams of up to four. Across five intensive rounds, participants tackled non-traditional math problems that prioritized logic and creative problem-solving over rote memorization. Adding to the excitement, a live scoreboard displayed results in real-time, creating a high-energy atmosphere as teams vied for the top spots.
Why this matters for our community Events like the ACS Math Open are a cornerstone of the ACS experience. They encourage a deeper appreciation for mathematics while fostering essential 21st-century skills: collaboration, critical thinking, and the ability to perform under pressure. For families choosing an educational path, this event highlights how ACS builds a motivated academic community and improves teamwork among its students.
We are incredibly proud of our students for demonstrating that mathematics, when combined with team spirit, is a powerful tool for future success.
