In Memoriam: Valentin Georgiev

March 31, 2026 --- The ACS Board of Trustees and the American College of Sofia community are deeply saddened by the passing of Valentin Georgiev - a devoted Trustee, a steadfast advocate for Bulgaria, and a remarkably proud ACS parent.

While Valentin’s professional legacy is etched into the history of Bulgaria’s democratic institutions, having served as Secretary General of the Parliament and the Constitutional Court, and leading the American Chamber of Commerce for over a decade, we remember him most for the light he brought into the room. As ACS President Emily Sargent Beasley shared, Valentin was defined by his energy, his laughter, and the sincerity with which he engaged everyone he met.

During his 15-year tenure as a Trustee of the ACS Board, Valentin left a deep impact on our school’s mission and strategic direction, including the renovation of the Campus Center, a partnership with the American Chamber of Commerce, and the implementation of ACS’s Strategic Plan.

Every conversation with him eventually turned to his family; his pride in his daughters was a constant, joyful theme in his life.

We extend our deepest love and condolences to his wife, Svetlana, and his daughters, Kalina (ACS Class of 2004) and Elitza (ACS Class of 2024). We share in your grief and remain profoundly grateful for the kindness and commitment he gifted to our school.

Rest in Peace, Valentin.
