College Counseling Activities

Lunchtime Workshops

In order to increase awareness among our students of specific factors involved in applying to multiple destinations around the world, the College Counseling Department runs bi-weekly COLLEGE AND CAREER COUNSELING LUNCHTIME WORKSHOPS as a regular feature in the schedule. Students are encouraged to attend as many lunchtime workshops as possible.

Virtual University Visits

In order to increase the presence of Colleges and Universities on campus the College and Career Counseling Department runs a series of online “virtual” university presentations with schools that we pilot throughout the application season. Students are encouraged to attend as many virtual visits as possible.

University Visits

ACS hosts a number of University and College Admissions Representatives throughout the year. These representatives visit either during lunch or after school and represent universities from all over the world. Information about upcoming university visits can be found on the Daily Bulletin and on the ACS Website. Students are encouraged to attend as many university fairs as possible. This information can be found in Google Classroom.

University Fairs

ACS hosts university fairs throughout the year. These fairs usually involve a group of universities from a particular region visiting on the same day. Information about upcoming university fairs can be found on the Daily Bulletin and on the ACS Website and Social Media. Students are encouraged to attend as many university fairs as possible.

Senior Parents Meetings

The College Counseling office organizes a comprehensive meeting with the parents of all senior students to talk in detail about the exciting challenges ahead as their sons and daughters look to a future beyond our school community and perhaps beyond Bulgaria. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the options available, and the ways in which parents can work with the Counseling Office as we support our students in the application process.

Junior Jumpstart

In the first semester, the counselors present a program to eleventh graders called Junior Jumpstart which marks the formal beginning of the college process for the eleventh grade class. Throughout the event, students are thoroughly informed about educational opportunities and application processes in the UK, US, Europe, and beyond.

Junior Parent Meeting

Following Junior Jumpstart, which marks the formal beginning of the college process for the eleventh grade class, parents are invited to attend an evening meeting covering the same topics along with financial aid and financing options.
