The Hulk in a Petri Dish

When we first saw these photos, we started wondering if the Biotech Elective and the Biotechnology Club at the American College of Sofia party with glow-up accessories or work on bacterial monsters in hopes of creating their own sort of Hulk, in a Petri Dish. It turns out that together with Dr. Dineva and club president Boris Beev (10/2) they are learning to make bacteria stronger and greener by introducing an ampicillin-resistant gene and a glowing gene from jellyfish into simple E. coli bacteria. Not quite the Hulk, but close enough! While the students and their supervisors don’t necessarily party per se, they do have a lot of fun with these experiments, not to mention how important it is to know about genes and bacteria.
