4th International Days at Rudjer Conference

From May 27 through May 29, three ACS students, Marieta Karastoyanova 11/2, Valery Ivanov 11/2, and Kamen Velichkov, 11/8, took part in the 4th International Days at Rudjer Conference held annually at “Rudjer Boskovic” High School in Belgrade, Serbia.

Students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Serbia attended workshops dedicated to Balkan economic and historical issues and held two debates on the topics “How to cure economic crisis?” and “Universalism vs. Cultural Relativism.”

ACS' students performed excellently and enjoyed the contact with their peers from abroad. Guest speakers from the University of Belgrade delivered interesting lectures which were followed by lively discussions. Prof. Danica Popovic, PhD, Faculty of Economics, presented the theme of Secular Stagnation and the Return of Karl Marx; Prof. Boris Begovic, PhD, Faculty of Law, offered critique of Capital in the Twenty First Century by Thomas Piketty, and Assistant Professor Haris Daic, Faculty of Philosophy, reviewed the theme of Nations, Minorities, and Myths in their Balkan context. All participants were actively involved in the course of the conference and willingly contributed to the activities, establishing a very positive atmosphere of Balkan cooperation. ACS' delegation, led by Dr. Zornitsa Semkova, highly appreciates the kind hospitality of “Rudjer Boskovic” High School's faculty and students and is looking forward to future common initiatives.
