Broadway Summer Academy
If you are 13 to 18 years old, looking for an opportunity to develop talents in acting, dancing and singing, a chance to meet new friends and have fun in the summer holidays, while learning and practicing English, the ACS BROADWAY (SUMMER) ACADEMY is exactly for you.
About the Academy
Our 14-day ACS BROADWAY Summer ACADEMY is linked to the renowned ACS Musical Program staging musicals from the Broadway Junior Collection, a licensed collection of Broadway Musicals adapted for young audiences. The initiative is long supported by the US President’s Office. Since 2007, the ACS Musical Program has staged with the college students the musicals Chicago, Hairspray, Spring Awakening, Hair, High School Musical, Rent, Fame, Guys and Dolls, Singin' in the Rain.
In July 2019, we are extending our program to students from other schools to offer the ACS BROADWAY ACADEMY to teenagers interested in the art of musicals. Driven by well-known performing arts professionals in truly inspirational classes the participants of the Academy will learn the secrets of the musical and all its forms – acting, dancing and singing. The summer program is designed to help students build confidence and enough experience that will encourage them onto further education both in performing arts and English language. This is the only summer art academy in the country that is firmly grounded in education – both artistic and linguistic.
The final week is dedicated to producing a large-scale end of Academy showcase in our state-of-art Whitaker Auditorium equipped with the latest multimedia and sound equipment. The showcase provides students with the fundamental experience of performing to a live audience alongside their peers and allows them to get a real taste for the musical theater. The students will perform scenes from Singin' in the Rain, Fame, and Les Miserables. The ACS Production Team will be cast in supporting roles to enhance the stage experience of our young performers.
