Block Days & Activities

Opening Day is an opportunities for the students to meet with each other, march, sing as a block and make friendships. 

Opening Day is the ceremonial start of the school year. The students gather in their brightly colored block t-shirts on the thick grass of the soccer pitch. They compete to chant and sing the loudest, and the seniors welcome the newest prep class to the college by presenting them with the Black Eagle flag. The ACS President and the Dean of Students offer welcoming speeches, the school choir sings the Bulgarian, the American and the college anthems, and then the students assemble on the front steps before the pillars of Ostrander Hall for their annual photograph. 

When the ceremony is over, school has begun!
