Do you struggle with pronunciation and confidence in speaking? Do you want to increase your English vocabulary and comprehension?

This course aims to provide a book-club-inspired class where students will be immersed into the world of English language and literature, the culture of reading, and conversational English.

Often overlooked, reading is an essential element in learning a foreign language. It exposes the reader to other language elements like grammar, writing style, and vocabulary. It will help the students increase and improve the use of a broader range of vocabulary, evaluate and analyze themes relating back to contemporary ideas, and increase overall fluency.

1. Reading Styles: Skimming, scanning, and in-depth reading
2. Textual analysis – Close reading / detail
3. Literary styles
4. Thematic discussions
5. Building Vocabulary
6. Enhancing Pronunciation
7. Note-taking and reading comprehension style discussion
8. Connotations and contemporary reflection
9. Character, plot, contemporary themes, construct, revise, and question

Course Duration
48 academic hours in 16 sessions
The course starts on January 18, 2023, and will continue until May 17, 2023.

Schedule
The classes of the current group are held once a week at the American College of Sofia on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The course is going to take place online in case the Bulgarian authorities prohibit classes in person due to the COVID pandemics.
