Introduction
This Guide was created as an ACS S.I.H.P. project for the 2004/2005 school year.
The American College of Sofia strives to best prepare its students for their future lives, and that is why providing them with information about future educational opportunities is a very important task. The counseling office provides valuable information about the higher education in the United States, but not much is available about European Universities and Colleges. As ACS students continue to show interest in European Universities, it was concluded that it would be useful to the ACS community to be provided with such detailed and concrete information.
The specific problem that was investigated was the lack of information about the educational opportunities in Europe available to the ACS community. It was expected that the research carried out would solve the specific problem and would have a broader social ramification.
The problem was approached in a thorough way that resulted in organized and easily accessible information about European education systems, possibilities, universities, and application processes. As the final result of the project, The Guide, provided a solution to the problem about the lack of information, it is expected that in this way ACS students will be effectively introduced to the opportunities for higher education in Europe. In this way they will be able to make the right decision about their lives. Because The Guide is available on the Internet, other high school students will also have access to the information it provides.
